I am an independent artist, originally from England. I now live about 40 minutes outside of New York city, where I paint in my home studio. I paint original artworks in traditional oils (and occasionally in watercolor and gouache).

I began my career working in Graphic Design, with a BA Hons in Design for Communication Media in Manchester, UK. I’m also a qualified teacher and headed a Design and Technology department for several years. I then ran a small ceramics business, before settling into painting. I studied oil painting at the Art Students League of New York and have studied with many contemporary working artists around the country. I have been painting in oils for about 10 years.

I paint large florals, still life and seascapes. Regardless the subject matter, the works are all connected by a deep appreciation of the beauty of the world and I encourage the onlooker to take time to be present in the moment.

Early artistic influences that drew me to painting were Edward Hopper, Anne Redpath and Georgia O’Keeffe. I love sharing my love of art and art history with other people and have led several museum visits to places such as the Guggenheim, The Whitney Museum of American Art, MOMA, The Met and The Edward Hopper House.

In my spare time I collect vintage and handmade glass and ceramics. I love beautiful, bohemian, slightly imperfect things.

I paint full time and also squeeze in a little bit of teaching which I thoroughly enjoy.
